Dr.
Diana Campbell is the Technology Coordinator for Frontier Regional and
Union #38 School Districts. A Leverett resident, Diana has provided both
vision and leadership in the field of educational technology since July of
1994 when she accepted the position of District Technology Coordinator.
That fall she helped to form a district technology committee, and she led
the way for both administrators and teachers, by taking them to
technology-rich schools throughout New England in order to facilitate an
understanding of the potential for their own district. At the same time
she carefully planned professional development, first for the central
office administrators and building principals, and then for the teachers,
so that they, too, might better understand the potential uses of
technology as a tool to empower students to become more effective
learners.
While employed
with Frontier Regional and Union #38 School Districts, Diana continued to
lead through her commitment, support, and hard work. Recognizing that
while some of her teachers were advanced and others were still in the
early stages in the use and integration of technology into their
curriculum, she carefully arranged professional development to meet the
identified needs of all her staff. In order to provide her staff with
multiple learning opportunities, she also collaborated and networked with
schools in Franklin and Hampshire Counties, the Regional and Educational
Business Alliance, and the Franklin County Professional Development
Organization. In addition, she partnered with the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst and Greenfield Community College. Throughout all
of these relationships, Diana remained focused on helping teachers design
activities that utilize both current and emerging technology and that
align with the learning standards of the Massachusetts Curriculum
Frameworks.
Through the
implementation of an annual needs assessment, Diana continues to identify
the individual needs of her staff. The information from this annual
assessment not only provides the basis for professional development
planning but also is important for district budgets and grants. She writes
district reports on technology for the Department of Education, maintains
the technology inventory for the district, and advises principals and the
superintendent regarding budgetary considerations. She has also been a
leader in the development of the nationally recognized American history
website, American Centuries
www.americancenturies.mass.edu.. Most
recently, she wrote a grant to meet a special education request for
assistive technology. Dr. Diana Campbell’s commitment to student and
teacher training in the field of Educational Technology uniquely qualifies
her to receive a MassCUE Year 2003 Pathfinder Award. |
